Just think of how much more time you would have to sit in front of the TV and get obese if you canceled your golf membership and let your lawn grow wildflowers.

The Golf courses in Bournemouth and the surrounding areas are a fantastic reflection of the Town. There are over 17 different courses in close proximity to Bournemouth Town Centre and each presents a unique challenge to golfers. One of the best ones in the area is Canford Magna Golf Club at over 45 holes and an excellent standard of throughout. It also has a par 3 nine hole holes game. Another favourite is Knighton Heath, a fantastic challenge with splendid undulating views of the surrounding heath as well as the being varied on different height levels. A truly majestic and scenic experience.

Another fantastic little club is the 9 holer in West Parley. Right opposite Bournemouth Airport, great on a nice sunny day. You could think you were anywhere in the World. This one always has amongst the very finest greens anywhere in Bournemouth, great for a short game. Meyrick Park and Bournemouth are perhaps the most exclusive in Bournemouth itself. These two are regularly hosting tournaments. Perhaps the most popular is one situated behind Bournemouth Hospital, long stretched out fairways with their fair share of dog legs. An open ranging design, however, due to its popularity sometimes the first 9 holes can be a bit rough.

West Moors is another interesting challenge and has many obstacles to navigate around, all round a good test of your general skills. An excellent destination to enjoy one of lifes finer if not always rewarding pursuits. Bournemouth and the surrounding areas have a great choice and balance of the good the bad and the ugly tests of golfing prowess, definately one of the premier destinations to play in the summer.

The area includes more than one hundred golf courses throughout, with the golfing being offered on an individual basis and also through golf package deals. Depending on what you are looking for from a golf course, you will find it here. These courses are designed by some of the greats, such as Tom Jackson, P.B. These golf courses are well-honored. Many of these courses have outstanding reputations. Brierwood Golf Club, just north of Myrtle Beach, is the most played course on the Carolina Coast. Myrtlewood Golf Club Pinehills Course is believed by some to be the best-kept course on the Grand Strand. Designed by Ray Floyd, holes two, three, and four of “The Cypress” at Arrowhead Country Club are said to be the most scenic in America. Myrtle Beach golfers voted one of the holes at Colonial Charters as one of the “dream holes”, and hole number nine at the Indian Wells Country Club has been named to the “Grand Strand’s Dream Eighteen.” The three toughest holes to finish on the Grand Strand are thought to be at Eagles Nest. Golf courses do not come in one shape and form. There are plenty of variations and each offers benefits and negatives. The key is to know them and pick the perfect course for that day.

The Public Golf Course is open to everyone. There are no expensive memberships required and they are usually located nearby and have very regular hours of operation. Although they are not famous and, in most cases, as attractive and well maintained as their more glamorous private cousins, the Public Golf course is an inexpensive and easy way to either learn the game or hone your skills. They are usually very crowded on weekends and holidays and you may feel rushed or have to wait awhile for your tee off time.

The Municipal Golf Course is thought by many people to represent the best value of all. These courses are owned and maintained by a city or county and they are open primarily to residents. Non-residents may also play here, but are generally charged much high rates. They may also be a bit crowded on the weekends. It really depends more on the course and the popularity of golf in the area.

The Daily Fee Golf Course is a semi-private type of course that falls in between the public and private courses. There are also Hotel and Resort Golf Courses that are often the very best maintained. They are usually expensive and play is generally restricted to guests of the hotel, but usually not guests can arrange to play on them. The Private Golf Courses can be the very best that can be found anywhere, but they are expensive to play on and membership in the owning organization is required. Only members and guests can play on the private courses.

There are other ways of classifying golf courses. There are some different types of golf courses based on size. The executive course, for example, tends to be a bit shorter than a regulation course. There is a higher percentage of par 3 holes and the overall length of holes is smaller than a regulation course. There are also some Par 3 Golf Courses. These have only holes that average at least 100 feet in length.

Some people might have their own classification scale for the different types of golf courses they encounter. Ease of play or difficulty might be one basis for comparison. Some people actually look up from their shots long enough to notice the surroundings. They might classify courses based on the beauty of the surrounding scenery. Whatever method you use or whatever your level of interest or skill in playing, there are enough different types of golf courses available to satisfy anyone.
