no you cannot use a tee from the fairway, and the way to figure out what club to use is by practice and calculating how far you hit each individual iron, then it will be a breeze!!!!
No you cannot use a tee on the fairway. You tee off from the tee box.
For your 2nd question, you need to know how far you hit all of your irons, so you won’t have to ask that question. Go to your neighborhood driving range and hit your irons and see how far each goes. Typically, the balls at the range are hit so often, that they are not a true indicator of how far you can hit your irons. You would want to add 10-20 yards extra for distance once you go onto the course for irons and 20-40 yards extra for woods. For instance, if you hit a 7 iron 130 yards at the range, more than likely you will hit it between 140-150 yards on the golf course. Swing fast as opposed to swinging hard. If the green is elevated above the fairway, you will want to take extra club. If it is below the fairway, you want to take less club. If the wind is blowing in your face, you will want to take extra club. They say 1 extra club every 10 mph of wind. If the wind is from your back take less club with one less club every 10 mph. The same goes for substantial elevation change up or down.
and also, the longer the shaft on the club, the more distance you get
for irons, distance increases as the number of the club decreases (for instance- a 3 iron would provide more distance than a 9 iron)
for woods, it’s the opposite- higher the number, the less distance
you’ll also find that the shorter the club, the more ‘loft’ it has (the loft is the degree the club face is angled from the shaft)
the higher the loft, the higher you will hit the ball, but it will also take off distance lengthwise
Strickly speaking, No, you may not tee up the ball on the fairway, although I would love to so I can hit another driver for par 5.
This is another question, you would know the right iron to use and the force of the blow by practising on the driving range. Generally, people hit different clubs for the same distant depending on your strength and how good you hit it.
on the fairway, keep your tee in your pocket or anyplace except under the ball. on your irons you have to know the range you hit each club, and it depends on the lie of the ball wheather you should ”club up” or ”club down”.
no! you cant even touch the ball on the fairway. you just gotta play as it lies. go to the range, hit some irons and judge the distance, ,maybe better if you write your distance for each club on a notebook. tees are only for tee shots unless you want disqualification. Get a coach and you’d get to learn more stuffs. Cheers:)
