AC2222 asked:
After teeing off, Player A hits player B’s ball onto the green without realizing it. Then player B hits player A’s ball on the green. They both take 2 putts to finish the hole, and both make 4’s (both still playing the wrong ball). Both players realize there error before teeing off on the next hole. What is the ruling?

2 stroke penalty per person for hitting the other players ball.
You may look further into it. As they putting 2 each, if they hit the wrong ball again twice, it would be another 2 stroke penalty PER hit. What was a 4 turns into a 7.
Rule 15-3 states that in:
Match Play
Striking the ball any time causes that player to lose the hole. If they both switch balls like in your scenario, the person to hit the ball first would lose the match.
Stroke Play
If a player hits a ball that isn’t his, he receives a two stroke penalty. If he fails to identify he is playing the wrong ball like in your scenario, he is disqualified. If he were to notice it and he put the ball back, he would just have the 2 stroke penalty, but the strokes he went through with the other players ball wouldn’t be added to his score.
Hope this helps.
LIsten to Dustin ! He has the answer that you would find in the “Rules of Golf.” Every person who plays this game should get a rules book, know the rules and play by them. There are many instances when they work to ones advantage.
they each get a 2 stroke penalty per time they hit it and then they would have to go back and hit it from where their actual ball was last from where ever it was before the other person hit it so then they would be hitting 7 from there but if they had teed off on the next hole they would be DQ’d
