young guy, good handicap (11) but no manners and doesn’t know the rules in golf (i.e., grounding club in water hazerd, etc). just brash and crude. at the end of the game, he shakes hands with the other two players but not me. I go and walk to him and shake his hand. should i have told him off or what>|??? what a CAD!

Consider the source and ignore it….. People are rude….for many reasons…….it is the way they have been taught…..lack of knowledge or many other reasons. As far as the rules?????? Enforce them and count the penalty strokes……He will learn a bit of humility from that.
Yes, i think you should tell him off. Golf is a game of etiquitte. It isnt very nice when you see people being rude when they are infront/behind you, so i reckon you should tell him.
Penalize him for infractions, tell him to learn some manners, and, the rules of golf.
I find your attitude both refreshing and truthful, the fact that you ignored his obvious ignorance and went and acknowledged him after the round has finished will have embarrassed him more than if you had made a scene. I wouldn’t worry too much about his behaviour on the course, golf clubs are usually pretty well-knit societies and his stupidity and arrogance will soon see him tarred with that brush resulting in a lack of playing partners. I personally wouldn’t lower myself to his level by reacting to his antics, unfortunately in this world you have to encounter these people on a fairly regular basis, it is usually due to a lack of intelligence that they act and behave the way they do. Simply rise above his benile attempts at gamesmanship and enjoy the fact that even if your score doesn’t beat his you as a person will always be far superior.
As for his blatent cheating, I would have taken a certain reserved pleasure in informing this buffon of his mistake as I chalked his score up.
first of all….11 isn’t exactly a good golfer considering i’m 14 and an 8.6. but brush it off and just don’t play with him anymore. but that is rude of him.
Any one who doesn’t practice the etiquette of the game, violates the rules and is discourteous doesn’t deserve a hand shake . You should have ignored him completely. The next time you see him ignore him. If he is too stupid to recognize a snub you don’t need his company.
Ignore the rude comments and such, thinking about them will only hurt your game. As far as being an 11 handicap, were the rounds used to calculate that handicap played by the rules? If not, the handicap is worthless. If I were you, I would watch him like a hawk, and call him on every rules infraction he violates. Discuss the rules violations with the other players in you group, or at least make sure they are aware of them. Keep his score on a separate card that you can compare to the one he kept. At the end of the day, compare cards and see what the scores are. If it is a competetion and he signs an incorrect scorecard, he will be DQ’d. And then, just to show that you are a better person, offer to shake his hand. Do this stuff and you will be inside his head every time you play together, and he will be thinking about how he can cheat without being caught, instead of focusing on playing good golf.
Human behaviours are produced for several factors; genetic, parents, and environment around him or her. Consequently, One who shows bad behaviour might have some problems in him or her life. Then, you should think that he or she is a very pitiful guy.
While you have to play with her in some tournament, you should only focus on your game, due to if you cannot ignore her behavior, your game can be destroyed by hers.
